Jesus' connection to the Essenes suggests he was chosen for a pivotal role. In this context Jesus' role was essential to the survival of their faith.
Although modern Cairo, as a city did not exist in the 1st century, the area around Memphis—just 12 miles south of modern Cairo—was a major entry point from Canaan into Egypt. Anyone traveling that route would have seen the Great Pyramids of Giza, already standing for over two millennia.
According to Christian tradition, Jesus spent part of His early years in this region after the Holy Family’s flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15).
